Progress to date

In August 2021, the Government passed legislative amendments to the Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage Act (2006) to improve the national regulation of offshore resources. It has also concluded reviews of the Commonwealth regulators, the National Offshore Petroleum Titles Administration (NOPTA) and the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA), and is committed to continuing to work to improve their performance.
