Regulatory settings and standards that enhance competitiveness
The Government will continue to provide accessible and user-friendly information for foreign investors to Australia, including through the websites of the Australian Tax Office, the Foreign Investment Review Board and Austrade.
Develop accessible, user-friendly tools that give greater clarity to foreign investors on how they will be taxed in Australia (such as detailed ‘scenario-based’ taxation guides based around the categories of financial products specified in the APEC Asia Region Funds Passport).
Progress to date
As part of the Government’s Global Business and Talent Attraction Taskforce, the ATO has introduced the New Investment Engagement Service for foreign businesses (identified through the Taskforce) planning significant new investments in Australia. The service commenced 1 July 2021.
